Our Humble Beginnings

ARM is an acronym for Assistance and Resources Ministry. Arm was formed at the request of Carter County Ministerial Association in 1991 in order to help coordinate the multitude of requests the churches were receiving for food, clothing, and household items. The Ministerial Association also saw a need to have a central clearing house for those applying for assistance, in order to learn who was receiving help and from whom, so that distribution of help to those in need could be more equitable in the community, given the limited resources available.
ARM cooperates and networks with other agencies / persons in our community to meet the needs of the needy.  ARM locates, receives organizes and distributes resources that can be used to meet the multiplicity. of other needy (e.g., food and clothing, etc.)

ARM is dependent upon the generosity of persons, churches, civic organizations United Way and other groups to supply funds for its operation.
ARM offices are presently located at 714 West C Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The telephone number is 423-542-0919. ARM has a board of directors representing a cross section of the community, who meet monthly to oversee the affairs of the organization.
